SPORTS MASSAGE

WHAT IS A SPORTS MASSAGE?

Sports Massage is a deep tissue massage that includes a variety of soft tissue mobilisation and myofascial techniques with the aim of reducing pain and improving movement.

You don't have to be an athlete to feel the benefits of a Sports Massage. Anyone who experiences aches and pains, muscle tension or have sustained an injury can benefit.

WHAT CAN A SPORTS MASSAGE DO FOR YOU?

● Reduce tension and "knots" in muscles

● Ease pain and stiffness

● Improve joint and tissue mobility and flexibility

● Help improve and maintain your sporting performance and daily activities

● Positive impact on both physical and mental well-being

● Aid recovery from injury

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A SPORTS MASSAGE?

On your first appointment, we will discuss your needs and priority areas for treatment with the aim of reducing pain and improving movement. For treatment, please wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing for ease of treatment and for client comfort. For lower limb treatments, please wear shorts; for upper limb treatments, wear vest/ sports bra.

Treatment is tailored around your needs, so make sure your therapist knows these at the beginning of the session.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A SPORTS MASSAGE?

It all depends on your needs. But generally clients follow the rule; "The more active I am, the more regular the treatment I need". Some people like to have an occasional "treat" or some "ME time", for others, it's regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly treatment plans. We have sessions to cater for all, just discuss with your therapist the best length of session for you!
